Project Lead The Way is a national, educational program that assists high school students in developing strong backgrounds in science.

PLTW Biomedical Sciences Program (BMS) introduces high school students to the human body, cell biology, genetics, disease, and other biomedical topics in a sequence of four courses. The program prepares students for postsecondary education and training necessary for success in a wide variety of positions: physician, nurse, pharmaceutical researcher, technician, etc.

There is a critical need for health care providers in the United States and our students have the potential to become these providers by gaining a solid foundational education here at Palmetto High. The Project Lead The Way curriculum is beneficial because it allows our students to begin the educational track towards successfully obtaining a health care degree.

The rigor of the courses prepares students academically for either two or four year colleges, and through PLTW there is an opportunity for students to earn college credit. My ultimate goal as an educator is to help our high school students enter into college with a strong medical backgroud so that they can suceed in obtaining a college degree in their health care field of interest.

Courses

Each of the PLTW courses are elective science classes. You must take them in consecutive order and it takes a great deal of planning your high school schedule in order to take all four courses. Talk to your guidance counselor to include these courses in your schedule.
